Original Painting:
"Red Deer Fawn Parked in the Fern"

Acrylic painting of a Red Deer fawn, originally done on cream-colored stock.

I recently decided to do something with this, so I layered it in the computer with a wet-on-wet semi-abstract painting I had done more recently, and added some pebbles underfoot from another of my works.

I was really pleased with the result, and the feedback I've had from fellow artists on RB to this work has been very positive indeed. It's wonderful when rehabilitate an artwork that has been lying dormant1

The reference [hoto for this study was taken by my late friend Mavis Davidson , who as a scientist with the Forest Dervice did a massive amount of research into the Sika Deer population in the Kamanawas and Kaweka Ranges.
