About Me

Original Acrylic:
"Mamaku Close-Up" - NZ Treefern.

The Black Mamaku - Cyathea medullaris - is the largest of the New Zealand tree ferns and can grow up to 45 feet in height.

This is a study of a young Mamaku with the light striking its growing head.

These are impressive ferns, either standing singly or in groves, and they are a notable feature of the New Zealand landscape. They are common throughout many parts of New Zealand, but rare on the eastern side of the Southern Alps in the South Island.

Acrylic on canvas board. Overall size 28in by 16in.

Sold - Bay of Islands NZ.
