About Me

Illustration for "West Coast Forests" NZFS Publication 1979.

Original Pen and Ink:
"Denizen of the Forest"
NZ Wilderness Art

This one really was a very cool illustration to do.

But when I grabbed a photocopy of it before it went to NZFS, the only copier available was not the best.

Strangely enough, it hasn't come out too badly, because the slightly distressed look of the copy kind of suits the subject.

There are many places in New Zealand where the relics of past industries can be found standing out in the landscape.

They may be steam engines for driving mills, railroad engines for transporting logs, fell railroads and tunnels, all kinds of equipment - some of it sitting in bare fields, some like this engine in the middle of forest regrowth.

I have a few photos of relics like this that Iim going to work into images, because I am sure many people also find these things as fascinating as I do.

You can now buy Cards, Giclee Prints and Framed Prints of this work:
