About Me

Original Acrylic:
"Thar on the Tops"

This study shows a bull Thar enjoying the evening breeze on the tops against a brilliant sunset.

The Thar is a species of goat Hemitragus jemlahicus from the Himalayas, and the male of the species has a huge ruff of long hair on his neck and shoulders. The skin is very thick indeed, especially of the male.

As to be expected they are extremely surefooted and inhabit rocky high country of the South Island.

Once again, there is lobbying for the complete destruction of this species in New Zealand. I am not convinced that all the arguments and evidence for this hold water, and I sincerely hope that total annihilation does not take place.

Acrylic on Board. Sketch for larger painting - size 4.5in x 6in.

Sold - Wellington, NZ
